The 2025 Hackathon Edition is Coming

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming Hackathon 2025, organized by BCN Tech Projects in collaboration with the MIT Edgerton Center, set to take place from January 15th to 19th, 2025, at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). This exciting event promises to be a groundbreaking edition, with new opportunities for learning, collaboration, and innovation.

What is a Hackathon?

A hackathon is an intense, time-limited event where teams of students, engineers, and innovators come together to solve real-world problems through technology and creativity. Over the course of several days, participants work in teams to design, develop, and present their innovative solutions, which are judged based on creativity, technical execution, and impact.

This year, participants will once again engage in a fast-paced, hands-on learning experience inspired by the collaborative and problem-solving ethos of the MIT Edgerton Center, a leader in learning by doing. The hackathon will be an excellent opportunity for students to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios, develop critical thinking skills, and collaborate with fellow innovators from around the world.

A Global Collaboration

In addition to the local mentoring team, we are excited to announce that the Ed Moriraty team will be traveling to Barcelona to participate as mentors, sharing their extensive experience and knowledge with all attendees. Additionally, the Italian mentor team will join forces to provide a unique international perspective, enriching the event’s collaborative environment.

The hackathon will be held at the UPC thanks to the partnership with the Faculty of Computer Science, which will provide state-of-the-art facilities for the event. This collaboration underscores the growing importance of international partnerships in driving innovation and advancing the skills of the next generation of engineers and tech leaders.

This upcoming hackathon marks the latest chapter in a history of successful, innovative events organized by BCN Tech Projects in partnership with MIT. Previous editions have seen teams of students from Barcelona, Italy, and the United States working together to tackle challenges in fields ranging from engineering design to software development and sustainable technology.
