Introduccion

Our idea was to make a project that is not based on programming. For that’s why we ended up deciding that it would be good to make a much more mechanical one with the aim of learning things that are part of our everyday life. In addition, most of engines that are used daily pollute a lot, that’s why we decided to make one electric motor to make us aware of the environment. Lastly, we want to make this engine with all the materials we have at our disposal to teach that you don’t need big ones knowledge to make an electric motor.

Materials and tools

The materials needed to carry out the project are the following:
– Stack or battery
– Copper wire
– Metal plates
– Wood to make the structure
– Welder
– Drilling
– keys

Objectives

Our main goal is to create a model that acts like an engine
electric Nowadays we see that electric motors are becoming more and more important
our society It is for this reason that we believe we can contribute, even if it is
like a small grain of sand, to improve the future of our planet. Our first prototype did not
will have any purpose. Mainly we want to get all the knowledge we can about it
this topic to begin to understand the automotive world. Later when
improve our prototype we would like to use this project for kart engines
of small children In this way we can make the new generations aware that the
present is already the electric motor.

Procedures

1. First we cut three pieces of wood to make the base of the engine. For
both of these 3 woods, one of them is the base itself and the other two could
be considered as the “walls” that support the central axis of the engine and
consequently the same.
2. We made a hole in these 2 walls using a small crown.
Inside these holes we inserted the bearings that allow movement
fluid from the rotation of the shaft as a result of the movement of the motor.
3. Then we extracted two circles from another piece of wood. These two
circumferences act as a support for the copper wiring which acts as a
coil with the help of keys. These two circles are
incorporated into the central axis.
4. So once we have the whole base and the main axis with both
circumferences attached to it, it is time to create the coil:
the most important element of the engine.

5. What we did was take copper wire and wind it around one of the
circles with the nails on the other leaving the ends of the cables loose
6. Then we cut a piece of wood in the shape of a cylinder and we went to it
stick metal plates (conductors of electricity), which act as
“”brushes” which are the ones that transmit the electricity from the battery to the wiring
of copper (coil).
7. To be able to make the metal plates transmit electricity to the
coil we connected each free end of the copper wire to each of the
plates
8. Once this was done we glued small “columns” from one circumference to the other
with the aim of strengthening the model because we realized that in
turn, the structure was shaking too much.
9. Finally we put different metals together to create a magnetic field
stronger and we incorporated them into the structure since without them the engine cannot
it can work

Cientific Corpus

For this project, we had to learn how magnets work, in
presence of an electric field, this has motivated us since we are working on the subject in physics
of electromagnetism and it has helped us a lot.
So we have understood that in physics, the electric field is the region of space in which a
stationary electrically charged particle receives a force proportional to the amount of
charge it contains, this electric field will always be radial and if the body is
negatively charged, the field lines will go towards the body, on the contrary if the charge is
positive the field lines will go outside the body, and it will be governed under two main
formulas E = Fe/q and E = K*(Q/R2) xin these formulas, Q is the load, Fe is the
electric force, K is the constant, and R is the distance. In our case, the electric field is
generated by the power source/battery. On the other hand, we also had to learn that
is a magnetic field.. Lastly, we learned that according to Coulomb’s Law, all charge in
movement generates a magnetic field. Therefore the electricity that circulates through the cables of
copper, is generating a magnetic field. Thanks to the overlap between the electric field and the
magnetic field, it is what causes the movement of the motor, the coils acting as coils
immersed in a magnetic field.

Second, we also learned how engines work, a topic that was
unknown to group members. Finally we had to learn how to make the engine move
from the application of electricity. First we apply a voltage to the system and this
it will stop on the coil. This is how we manage to generate a magnetic field due to the flow of electrons
that circulate through the system. The magnetic field created by this flux creates a repulsion through the field
magnetic created by the fixed magnet located at the bottom of the system. This engine prototype
it helps us to have an idea of the functionality of an electric motor on a small scale. For another
we also had to learn that it is a magnetic field. A magnetic field is a
field that is generated due to the presence of electric charges in motion and direction
of this field well given by the right-hand rule, the thumb marks the direction of the intensity i
with the other fingers of the hand closing indicating the direction of the magnetic field. That’s why
whenever there is an electric current, a magnetic field is generated. It is through the
superimposition of these two fields, the magnetic and electric, that we manage to generate one
rotation movement in the x axis, finally thanks to the bearings we get a better rotation
of the axis and in addition we improve the time that the axis endures rotating. Every magnetic field generates
a magnetic force on the metal objects around it, this force we can
find by: Fm = Q·V·B·cos(ɑ) where Q is the charge, V the velocity and B the electric field
measured in teslas. The direction of this is given by the right-hand rule.

Conclusions

Throughout this project we were able to learn how an electric motor works and
consequently all the parts of physics that make it possible. Although we didn’t have to
do any calculations, it has served us as a representation of what we know how to do with ours
knowledge As a group, one of the main drawbacks we have encountered has been a
the time to make the engine since there were many materials that we had to look for and a
plus we had to start again because we made a mistake with the sizes of
the tables we cut at the last minute, even so it must be said that we are happy since the
planning has been completed 100%.
